The TriCore Method: Where Strength Training Meets Pilates

When I first began working in the fitness industry over 25 years ago,

most workouts fell into separate categories. You either lifted weights, were a cardio junkie, or did something like Pilates or yoga. You trained for strength, endurance, or flexibility. High intensity or low impact. Everything was separated.

But after years of working with clients of all ages and fitness levels from post-rehab clients and prenatal women to athletes and active older adults, I realized the body doesn’t thrive when movement is isolated. It thrives when we train it as a whole.

That belief became the foundation of the TriCore Method.

At TriCore, endurance and strength training meet Pilates-based mobility work within a single system because each element supports the others. Together, they create a stronger, more resilient body that not only performs better, but feels better too.

Why We Combine Strength Training and Pilates

Strength training is essential for building muscle, supporting bone density, improving metabolism, and helping us maintain independence as we age. It gives us power and confidence in everyday life. But strength alone is not enough.

Without stability, mobility, and proper movement mechanics, many people end up feeling tight, stiff, or chronically sore - even when they’re “fit.” That’s where Pilates changes everything.

Pilates teaches body awareness, posture, breath control, and deep core stability. It strengthens the smaller stabilizing muscles that support the joints and spine while improving mobility and movement efficiency.

When combined with strength training, Pilates helps the body move better under load. The result is a training style that develops strength without sacrificing mobility, stability without rigidity, endurance without burnout, intensity with intention.

This combination is what makes the TriCore Method different.

Fitness That Supports Longevity

One of the biggest problems in today’s fitness culture is the idea that workouts need to leave you exhausted to be effective. I’ve never believed that. Yes, workouts should challenge you. But they should also support your nervous system, your joints, and your long-term health.

At TriCore, our goal isn’t just to help people look fit for a season. Our goal is to help people move well for life. That means training in a way that builds sustainable strength, improves posture and mobility, reduces the risk of injury, supports recovery and helps people feel more connected to their bodies. Because real fitness is not about punishment. It’s about function, confidence, and quality of life.

The Three Pillars of the TriCore Method

The TriCore Method was built around three essential components of fitness:

Endurance

We train cardiovascular endurance to improve stamina, heart health, and overall energy levels.

Strength

We use functional strength training to build muscular strength, support metabolism, and create physical resilience.

Mobility

Through Pilates and intentional movement patterns, we improve mobility, stability, posture, and joint health.

When these three elements work together, the body becomes more balanced and capable as a whole.

A Smarter Approach to Fitness

One of the things I’m most proud of at TriCore is that our workouts are designed to meet people where they are. We train all ages, all fitness levels, and all body types. Every movement can be modified or progressed. Clients are encouraged to work at a level that feels challenging and sustainable for their body. There’s no pressure to “keep up.” No intimidation. No ego-driven fitness culture.

Just smart movement, strong coaching, and a supportive community focused on helping people feel successful.

More Than a Workout

At its core, the TriCore Method is about helping people build a healthier relationship with fitness.

We want our clients to leave class feeling stronger, more energized, and more confident — not broken down. Because fitness should enhance your life outside the gym. It should help you carry groceries without pain. Travel with energy. Keep up with your kids. Improve your posture. Reduce stress. Feel strong in your body. That’s the real goal. And that’s why we combine strength training and Pilates at TriCore. Not because it’s trendy. Because it works.
